What is the Gospel?
The word Gospel means “good news.” It is the news that God did not leave people in sin and separation, but sent Jesus Christ to save sinners and reconcile them to Himself.
God the Creator
God made people to live in relationship with Him. Our life belongs to Him and has meaning in a right relationship with our Creator.
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
Our problem is sin
A person's deepest problem goes deeper than addiction, poverty, broken relationships, or bad habits. The Bible says that all people have sinned and are separated from God.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
God showed His love in Christ
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came into the world, lived without sin, died for sinners, and rose again. Salvation cannot be earned by good works or by fixing the past.
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
God calls us to repent and believe
The Gospel does not call a person merely to improve their life, but to turn to God: to acknowledge their sin, to give up hope in themselves, and to trust Jesus Christ.
“Repent, and believe in the gospel.”
New life begins with Christ
We do not promise that faith will instantly undo every consequence of the past. But in Christ a person receives forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and new life.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
